Alexander Building Construction Co., an established, innovative General Contractor/Construction Manager, with offices in Harrisburg and State College, is currently seeking to fill the following positions:

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER Alexander - Harrisburg is seeking a Senior Project Manager with 10+ years of experience in a general contracting/construction management environment. A 4-5-year degree is required in addition to progressive construction industry experience as a Senior Project Manager involved in construction of commercial or institutional buildings. Experience in health care and higher education is a plus.

PROJECT MANAGER Alexander - Harrisburg is seeking a Project Manager with 5-7 years experience in the general contracting / construction management industry. Ideal team member will have a 4-year degree and has experience in project management with established institutional clients. Experience with healthcare clients a bonus. We thrive on delivering large scale projects for clients that embrace our innovative mindset. We are fortunate to have several large scale projects within Central PA and are looking to add talent to our growing team.

PROJECT ENGINEER Alexander - Harrisburg is seeking a Project Engineer with min. 1-3 years of experience in a general contracting/construction management environment. Either a 4-year degree or equivalent combination of technical training and job experience is required. Must be detail-oriented and PC literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of BIM and Virtual Design experience is a plus.

RESTORATION PROJECT MANAGER Alexander - State College is currently seeking an experienced Restoration Project Manager to join our team in State College, PA. The Restoration Project Manager will lead property repair projects including fire, smoke, water, and storm damage.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Manage project life-cycle from beginning to end
  • Main point of contact for customer
  • Conduct onsite property inspections
  • Develop scope of work and repair estimates
  • Manage self-perform trades, coordinate and schedule subcontractors and vendors, develop and oversee project schedule, purchase building materials, and complete project closeout
  • Develop and maintain business referral network
Minumum of five (5) years of experience working in the construction industry required, two (2) years in the restoration industry preferred and IICRC certifications in Fire & Smoke Restoration and Water Restoration preferred.

RESTORATION LEAD TECHNICIAN Alexander - State College is currently seeking an experienced Restoration Project Manager to join our team in State College, PA. The Restoration Lead Technician will lead emergency responses for fire, smoke, water, and storm damage.

Job Responsibilities include:
  • Communicate the restoration process to customers
  • Perform project documentation requirements
  • Perform water extraction, structural drying, moisture monitoring, fire/smoke deodorization, pack outs of belongings, board ups, securing structures, demolition, clean-up, and general project labor support
  • Maintain equipment, vehicles, and warehouse
  • Mentor Technicians in proper techniques and company procedures
  • Ability to participate in the on-call 24/7 rotation program (nights and weekends)
  • Willing to work overtime as needed in emergency situations
Qualifications include:

MEP PROJECT MANAGER Alexander is seeking an MEP Project Manager with a minimum of five years experience as a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager/Project Engineer in commercial construction or institutional buildings, and thorough knowledge of MEP construction. This candidate will provide overall project management of, and leadership for MEP and Fire Protection Trades on multiple projects. Typical duties include: developing and maintaining a positive relationship with MEP subcontractors serving the Harrisburg area, producing estimates, providing review of the design concepts and offer Value Engineering concepts and cost analysis, developing 'scope of work' for MEP trades, provide input for the development and maintenance of project schedule, participate in periodic progress meetings, receive, review and approve monthly MEP subcontractor, vendor invoices and change orders, oversee the quality of the MEP field-installed work, and ensure that the MEP aspects of the job are closed out in a timely manner. A working knowledge of 3D coordination and/or BIM is preferred. Candidate must possess either a four-year engineering, architectural or other relevant technical degree or equivalent job experience.

PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT Alexander - Harrisburg is seeking a superintendent with 5-10 years' experience in a general contracting/construction management environment. Experience in health care, higher education, retail, commercial, hotel, institutional or office building projects required as well as proven experience and extensive knowledge of craft work.

PROJECT ESTIMATOR Alexander - Harrisburg office is seeking full-time estimators who are a strong team players with excellent communication and people skills. Must have four-year degree and have experience with conceptual estimating. 10 plus experience in estimating.

PROJECT MANAGERS provide overall management for the project and are the main point of contact with the owner. The project manager works with project executives, the preconstruction department, and the design team to develop the project schedule, construction plan, and phasing. During construction, the project manager is responsible for managing and directing the work of specialty contractors and Alexander’s personnel. The project manager also uses our in-house cost control, scheduling, and material and equipment delivery control systems to plan and manage the construction process. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline and five years of applicable experience, or an equivalent combination of technical training and job experience. Knowledge of PC-based software relating to project scheduling and cost control required.

SUPERINTENDENTS are responsible for directing the foremen and field operations of the various specialty contractors on the project site. Duties include schedule development, quality control, safety control, coordination of job site construction activities, interfacing with the site facilities personnel, daily inspections, and adherence to project schedules. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline and five years of field supervisory experience in the construction of commercial and/or institutional buildings, or an equivalent combination of technical training and job experience.

PROJECT ENGINEERS are responsible for checking all shop drawings for accuracy, maintaining and updating the schedule, maintaining and updating material expediting systems, maintaining a formal Request for Information (RFI) process, and reviewing and processing changes. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience. Familiarity with PC-based software in order to learn project scheduling and cost control is required.

PROJECT ACCOUNTANTS work with the project manager in the coordination of information and cash flow between the owner, Alexander, and the subcontractor/suppliers. Duties include the monthly owner invoice, subcontractor/ supplier payments, cost tracking, and analysis within the construction management software. Qualifications include two years of college or other business training including two accounting courses (associate’s degree in accounting preferred) and two years experience in a construction accounting environment or equivalent combination of education and job experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.

ESTIMATORS work as part of the preconstruction services staff to prepare bid packages, conceptual estimates, analysis of subcontractor bids, etc., for specific line items. Estimators interface with owners, A/E firms, and contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of technical training and experience. A minimum of two years experience in estimating or five years in the building construction industry. Knowledge of computerized estimating systems and cost data bases and word processing software.
