Utilizing an integrated project delivery (IPD) method driven by state of the art BIM technology & processes, any new project can realize the benefits of improved communication among the project team, streamlined efficiencies, enhanced scheduling and cost efficiency. Alexander's experience as a leader in BIM and IPD delivery processes generates tangible results for a client.
Our BIM model was used to show an animation of the site logistics plan. A schedule was produced and combined with our model, and together it created an excellent tool for the owner to understand how they will need to prepare for any potential vehicular and pedestrian traffic detours during the construction process.
Complex projects can be hard to visualize and estimate when looking at a design on a piece of paper. For the Allentown Arena project, we were able to present the owner with a more complete and accurate estimate much earlier in the design process because of the BIM Model and the level of knowledge it can provide.
AutoCAD 2D drawings were utilized to develope a Revit® Model for use in the 6th Dimension. This in-house expertise allows us to better manage BIM on projects, from subcontractor education to providing input to the design team and owner at all phases, our staff possesses the skills necessary to both contribute and lead.
The doctors requested all receptacles be located in the exact place from room to room to more easily assist them with patient care. A BIM model was built from the stud contractor’s layout and given to the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression to help aid in the design and location of the devices in each room.
The utilization of BIM was a major component in the logistics planning for the highly active 30th Street Station West Plaza renovation project. Existing and proposed traffic patterns were identified for various phases of the project to ensure minimal interference with station functions, pedestrian/vehicular traffic and train operations.
Through evaluation of the BIM model, the construction and design teams worked together to create a minimally invasive shoring design to accommodate the hospital's 24/7 operations. Conflicts were realized using the model prior to items being installed in the field and resources utilized, preventing additional cost for rework and delays in the schedule.
This project involved construction of a complex deep and shallow foundation system spanning an existing utility tunnel that housed several main utility feeds to the hospital. A BIM model of the foundations on both sides of the tunnel was developed to visualize, coordinate, and implement the construction and phasing of the systems adjacent to this main utility artery of the hospital.
